Viagra vs. Cialis (171596-29-5 vs 139755-83-2)

There can be no doubt that erectile is one of the most benign conditions that has the most effect on a person’s life. I am using the word benign here as erectile dysfunction does not cause any physiological consequences other than being unable to enjoy in an active sex life. No one has died from erectile dysfunction itself. However, no one can deny that this medical condition is one of the most psychologically wrecking ones possible. Namely, this condition can affect a man to such extent that it can even lead to depression. It can also lead to different issues and relationship problems, anxiety and a number of other psychological implications.

And the worst thing for years has been the fact that there was nothing that you could do about ED. If you suffered from ED, that was pretty much that. You were unable to achieve erections and there was nothing that you could do. Sure, you were able to try with certain natural products and different remedies, but to say that those treatments had any significant effect would be a fallacy. Fortunately, things changed in 1998 when Viagra came out as the first ED medication that got an FDA approval. It was an unprecedented event in the history of pharmaceuticals and it has brought so much joy to men all over the planet that it became the most talked about drug ever. In 2003, two other ED medications got their FDA approval, one of them being Cialis. All of a sudden, Viagra got competition and it stopped being the only true treatment for ED.

Over the years, Cialis grew in importance, slowly chipping away at Viagra’s sales, getting a bigger and bigger piece of the cake each year. So, how much different is Cialis exactly from Viagra?

It has to be said that the difference is not that big at all. Although they have a different chemical structure, the two medications work on the same principle. They work by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme and thus making it possible to achieve erections through several chemical processes. The efficacy of these two medications has been proven and it almost the same. The side effects that may occur when taking these two medications are pretty much the same and other precautions about taking the medications are also very, very similar.

However, there is one very big difference and that is the fact that Cialis’ beneficial effects last for much longer than those of Viagra. While Viagra becomes virtually ineffective after four hours, Cialis can have beneficial effects for as long as 36 hours. For some people this is a difference that is very significant and that puts Cialis in the top spot, while some people believe that the track record and the reputation of Viagra are reason enough to go with this medication. The best thing is to decide for yourself.
